Abstract
Objective: To determine the factors that ensure the permanence of agroecological activities and/or systems promoted in three groups of families linked to the Vicente Guerrero Group (GVG).
Design/methodology/approach: Research was carried out through a mixed approach, combining qualitative (participant observation, interviews, orkshops) and quantitative methods (questionnaire). Survey was applied to 34 families from three groups of families.
Results: Continuous visits, identification of an enthusiastic partner as a local representative, establishment of a model plot, constant training, feasibility and adaptability of the promoted innovations were identified as basic factors for the permanence of the agroecological activities and/or systems. To maintain agroecological profile, families carried out eight practices: soil and water conservation, reducion of inputs, polycrops, agroecological management of pests and diseases, effient use of inputs, crop rotation, redesing of fields and production of own inputs. Families are interested in continuous training on agroecological innovatios.
Limitations on study/implications: the study only evaluated three groups of families out of the 18 linked to the GVG between Tlaxcala and Puebla.
Findings/conclusions: The commitment to improve, conserve and strengthen agro-ecosystemic processes requires effort from each component. And that the permanence of the systems and techniques disseminated depend on multiple commitments involving both the organization (GVG) and the groups of families.
