Abstract
The concept of innovation has acquired great relevance in recent years in developing countries, since it is a means to stimulate innovation processes in the agricultural sector, considering the interaction processes between research and economic activity, practices for interaction and learning, and the creation of an enabling environment that fosters innovation, favoring the generation of socially and economically useful knowledge. The structural factors (actors, institutions, interaction and infrastructure) present in the construction of the innovation system for Vanilla planifolia Jacks ex Andrews, in Veracruz, Puebla and San Luis Potosí, Mexico, were analyzed, as a first step in the construction of the innovation system. The results suggest advances in the interaction, infrastructure and actors processes, while the institutions that shape the organizations have remained static in face of changes in the environment.
