Resumen

ABSTRACT

Objective: Identify and understand the impact of innovation dynamics, generated by innovation agents, on the transformation of agroecosystems (modification in structure, management and market), recognize the social barriers that limit their diffusion, strengthen criteria for the design of public innovation policies.

Design/methodology/approach: Design of a methodological proposal for qualitative analysis of innovation dynamics in the transformation of agroecosystems, applied to a case study of policies for innovation in coffee in Mexico, identifying the elements of circular bioeconomy in their designs.

Results: Map of innovation dynamics in coffee agroecosystems transformation, showing the policies that influence innovation of specific structures in agroecosystems, as a result of interaction between innovation agents and the target population. Matrix for the analysis of policies in agroecosystems, identifying barriers that limit the dissemination of each policy.

Limitations on study/implications: Understanding transformative innovations and barriers in the application of public policies. Qualitative analytical proposal.

Findings/conclusions: Heterogeneity was shown in the innovations dynamics of agroecosystems, identifying the transformation in specific structures of the same, and the possible complementarity that policies can have to generate innovations at the agroecosystem level in differentiated components of the same, however, limitations of access to knowledge are identified, so that producers can take greater advantage of policies in the transformation of their coffee agroecosystems, as well as low training in decision making with respect to the market phase.
