Abstract

Ten beneficial elements have been identified which, without being essential for the physiology of the plant, can improve indicators of growth, development, response to environmental stimuli, and nutrient uptake of the plant. In this study it was found that the beneficial elements aluminum, cobalt, selenium and silicon do not affect the growth of Heliconia cv. Golden Torch Adrian, while the concentrations of essential nutrients such as P, Fe, Cu, Ca and Mn do improve. With these results, their use is recommended to improve the nutritional state of Heliconia plants, with the objective of improving production and the quality of inflorescences.
