Abstract
An assay was developed with 1-5 month old coffee plants in a nursery in Chicomuselo, Chiapas, México. Its objective was to evaluate the effect of Calcium and Boron from a commercial source of fertilizer (YaraLiva Nitrabor) in young coffee plantations (Coffea arabica L. var. Costa Rica 95). Four treatments with
different Calcium-Boron doses were used, distributed in 3000 plants per treatment under conditions of mesh-shade and spray irrigation. The results showed that the treatment of 50% YaraLiva Nitrabor+50% YaraMila Star developed more vigorous plants which were ready to be transplanted at five months of age; larger Root System (5.9 cm3); higher Plant Height (26.7 cm); higher Number of Secondary Branches (1.1 pairs of branches) and higher Number of Leaves (10.87 pairs of leaves), compared to the rest of the treatments.
