AGROINDUSTRIAL EVALUATION OF TEN VARIETIES OF SUGAR CANE (Saccharum spp.)

Abstract

In order to offer sugar cane (Saccharum spp.) varieties with better agronomic characteristics to producers, ten cultivars introduced to the state of Campeche, México, were evaluated, using the NCo 310 cultivar as control, under a random block design with three repetitions. The plantilla (seedling) and soca (root) cycles were evaluated, measuring: field yield (RC), sugar (RA), Brix degrees (Brix), purity (P), saccharose content (Sac), fiber (F), reducing sugars (AR) and moisture (H). All the varieties presented similar statistical values in terms of F, H and AR during the soca cycle, and also Brix and P in both cycles (p?0.05). The varieties with significantly higher RC during the plantilla cycle were SP 83 5073 and SP 80 1816, and during the soca cycle CP94 1674 and SP 83 5073, higher than the control cultivar (p?0.05). The cultivar SP 83 5073 showed greater significance in Sac than the control during the plantilla, and during the soca CP94 1674 showed the highest concentration. During the soca, RA was statistically higher in cultivars CP94 1674 and SP 83 5073 (p?0.05). The culivars CP94 1674 and SP 83 5073 were the ones recommended for the sugar cane area in the evaluation zone.
