Abstract
The drop adsorption immunoassay method was evaluated to determine the presence of the Leifsonia xyli ssp. xyli bacteria in five commercial cultivated sugar cane (Saccharum spp.) clones, to determine its distribution in the sugar cane area of Chontalpa, through 105 sampling sites in that zone. The immunoassay method was informative; the bacteria was detected attacking the clones Mex 69-290, Mex 68-P-23, CP 72-2086 and RD 75-11 with incidence of 0 to 10% for the first three clones and 0 to 30 % for the latter clone. The positive plantations were distributed forming three focuses in the south of the sugar cane zone.
