Abstract

For México’s forestry industry, Cedrela odorata is the species of greatest importance, with ample demand for the establishment of commercial plantations, which could be covered through the in vitro propagation of outstanding genotypes. A protocol for in vitro propagation of C. odorata was developed through auxiliary buds, evaluating effects from different cultivation mediums in the phases of establishment, multiplication and rooting of five C. odorata genotypes selected. Establishment of 55 % was obtained with the MS medium complemented with antioxidants, bactericides and auxins, while in the multiplication phase, the MS medium complemented with higher concentration of auxins favored the emission of
shoots (95 %), and all the mediums favored their elongation. C. odorata presented a good level of rooting even without auxins, but the MS medium complemented with 0.1 ml L-1 of AIB and 0.1 ml L-1 of ANA was superior in root generation (12 %), concluding that the effect of the cultivation medium is determinant for the in vitro establishment, multiplication and rooting of C. odorata, while the genotype once established has an effect on the survival and response to rooting
