Abstract

Gas emissions caused by the use of fossil fuels generate the need to find renewable energy sources, for which biofuels are a valuable alternative. Currently, biodiesel production methods are often studied; however, the techniques are not efficient yet. In this study, the advantages and disadvantages of different types of catalyzers are analyzed and discussed, with an emphasis on enzymatic catalyzers which in the future could be used in trans-esterification at the commercial level, for biodiesel production.
