Abstract
A fundamental requirement in the production of Persian lime (Citrus latifolia Tanaka) is the control of fruit quality, which requires a parametrization based on which morphometric characteristics can be obtained objectively. A system was designed based on the techniques of digital image processing, of easy operation, great mobility, economic and versatile, and capable of obtaining the characteristics of the shape of the commercial Persian lime fruit in a specific scenario. The surface of the lime was explored from 360° to perform a measure of the size of the fruit in pixels and the uniformity of the shape. The system was capable of using the standard deviation as indicator to explore the uniformity of the fruit’s color on its entire surface and detect color spots or undesirable marks through its variation, as well as to understand the uniformity or tendency in terms of shape considering variations in the deviation of the diameter measured.
