Abstract
Objective: Characterize and evaluate the selections Ataulfo ??diamante ',' Sapphire 'and' Citlalli 'of mango (Mangifera Indica L.), as part of the genetic improvement program of mango in the Rosario Izapa Experimental Field of INIFAP.
Design/methodology/approach: The morphological characterization was carried out according to the descriptors proposed by UPOV. The agronomic behavior of the clones was evaluated, and with the results of the variables an analysis of variance and a comparison of means according to Tukey with an ? = 0.05 was applied.
Results Morphological differences were found between the characterized and evaluated clones; the differences were in fruit morphology, flavor and yield.
Limitations on study/implications: The productive potential and the quality of mango clones will depend on the handling in the field and post-harvest that receive the fruits.
Findings/conclusions: The clones 'Citlalli', 'Ataulfo ??Diamante' and 'Ataulfo ??Elite' present productive characteristics of high potential and register quality to be considered in programs of improvement of the productivity of the crop in the region of Soconusco, Chiapas, Mexico.
