PERSPECTIVES FOR THE BACKYARD AND ITS IMPORTANCE IN FOOD SECURITY

Abstract

The backyard is a complex agroproductive system, where the family is the center, and it develops sociocultural and productive activities; within it, different plant and animal species coexist, generating interrelations among its components. The objective of this study was to show a panorama of the components of the backyard, its knowledge, problems and aspects to be studied for its improvement. A reflection is made regarding the studies carried out and, aspects to be addressed for food security using the backyard are highlighted. It is concluded that its complexity requires being addressed in an interdisciplinary manner, taking into account the family as a dynamic factor of every process, and being
inclusive in decision making to improve food production.
