Resumen

Objective: To identify the dominant and desired organizational cultures within the academic community. Design/methodology/approach: The Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) questionnaire was administered to 28 academics using a pragmatic methodology based on systems theory.

Results: The findings reveal a predominantly hierarchical culture, although there is a strong aspiration toward a clan-type culture. Limitations and implications of the study: The results suggest that fostering a clan-type organizational culture within hierarchical institutions can enhance commitment, cohesion, and organizational effectiveness, though it requires flexible leadership and well-structured change strategies.

Conclusions: It is concluded that a transition toward more collaborative organizational structures could strengthen institutional identity, cohesion, and effectiveness. Further research on organizational resilience and dynamic capabilities is recommended.
